Earring Frustration! (trixie)

I recently got my ears pierced and was told by my doctor that I should only wear gold or silver post earrings for about a year. I was completely fine with that at first because I don't want my ears to get infected, but I have discovered that it is really hard to find a fun, relatively cheap pair of gold/silver post earrings. Hardly any stores sell them, and if they do, I find them plain and boring. Here is one of the only cute pairs of gold post earrings I have found ($24.00 at Anthropologie)

I'm Missing Summer Already.....

While I definitely love fall and winter the most (and definitely like fashion better then too), I'm already kind of sad at the prospect of summer ending. All the things I want to do during the summer but never quite get around to. Below, I was looking for a vintage bike but found this old pin-up picture and thought it looked cool! I would love to own a vintage bike one day.

Another thing that I wish I had done this summer was have a picnic. I don't even remember the last time I went on a picnic. Wouldn't it be great to have a garden like this in your backyard?? Perfect setting!
The picture below I found on the blog http://joannagoddard.blogspot.net, I thought it was funny!

And btw, Trixie, it's your turn to post on the weekends!!

I can't wait to see what tonight's episode has in store!

"Snow Frolics"

As I have already mentioned, I am currently obsessed with the movie called Love Story. One of my favorite things about the film is its musical score. There is one particular song from Love Story that I listen to all of the time, and it is called "Snow Frolics." I love this song because it is very euphoric and is has a very 70s-ish vibe. Tell me what you think of it.

Anthropologie Haul

My mom and I went shopping at Anthropologie today, and I bought four great pieces. The first is a knit head band that will be fashionable and warm during the fall and winter. The next item is a ruffled cream cardigan that I can pair with anything. I bought what I thought was a really pretty dress that looks great with the sweater, but I discovered by looking on the Anthropologie website that the dress is really a chemise! Even though it is supposed to be worn under cloths as a slip, I still think I can pass it off as a sundress. The last item I bought is a casual top that has black and white stripes and is adorned with scarf-like material. I found pictures of the first three items on the Anthropologie website. Tell me what you think of them!

3 Awesome Things!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! Here are three awesome things I want to share with you.

1. www.welovecolors.com -For a long time I have been searching for a place to buy cool tights, and I have finally found it. On this website, they have tights, leggings, socks, and dance wear in dozens of colors. The prices are a little high, but the shipping is only $5.

2. I bought another cute dress at Blush. It has a floral design that resembles antique wallpaper, and I layer it over a long-sleeve tee.

3. My mom loves to go to Target and buy old movies that are on sale. They usually don't interest me because she usually buys war movies or 80s action flicks. Last week, however, my mom bought a movie made in 1970 called Love Story. She said that it was the "it" film when she was in high school and it was one of her favorite movies when she was a teen. I was skeptical about it at first, but it turns out that I absolutely LOVED it. The movie's stars are Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal (Ferrah Fawcett's long time boyfriend). I loved the characters, the plot, and I was either laughing or crying through the whole movie. Its musical score is also really beautiful. Here is a link to the trailer.

Killing Time....

So, per usual, I wake up wayyyyyy too early for school and end up sitting around killing time! I have always wanted a record player and I found this one on http://fredflare.com/ I just think it'd be so much fun to play all my parents old records and buy used ones! Say what you want about itunes and iPods, there's just something completely classic about the record player!

I don't wear headbands as much as I use to, but as far as headbands go, the one below is pretty cute! Also from, http://fredflare.com/

Ok, wish me luck on my first day!!!!

Fruity Deserts!

My friend and I made this delicious apple crumble once and it was sooooooooo good and I'm craving it right now. The picture is obviously apple pie but apple pie just looks prettier in pictures than apple crumble does!

Interesting Website (trixie)

I am obsessed with America's Next Top Model, and one of my favorite parts of the show is when models receive special prizes for winning contests. On one episode, the reward was a gift certificate to bluefly.com. I had never heard of this website, so I checked it out after the show was over. I found out that bluefly is a website where people can by designer apparel and accessories at discounted prices. This sounds great at first, but I discovered that the merchandise on bluefly is still very expensive. While I don't plan on regularly buying from bluefly, I still browse for fun. I like the dresses the best so here are several of my favorites.

  1. Designer: Chaiken, Original Price: $326.00, Discounted Price: $139.99
  2. Designer: Marc By Marc Jacobs, Original Price: $298.00, Discounted Price: $152.15 (Lea Michele wore this on Glee!)
  3. Designer: Alice & Olivia, Original Price: $484.00, Discounted Price: $245.65 (I think this would make a pretty homecoming dress)
  4. Designer: Nicole Miller, Original Price: $310.00, Discounted Price $186.00 (another homecoming-worthy dress)
  5. Designer: Wyatt, Original Price: $125.00, Discounted Price: 74.80
  6. Designer: Marc Bouwer GlamIt! Original Price: $495.00, Discounted Price: $297.00 (homecoming worthy)
  7. Designer: Marc Bouwer GlamIt!, Original Price: $495.00, Discounted Price: $287.00 (I would totally wear this to prom b/c it's simple and almost Grecian in appearance)

Random Fashion Finds! (trixie)

One of my favorite past-times is something I like to call Internet window shopping. This is where I browse the online merchandise of my favorite stores such as Forever 21. Recently while Internet window shopping, two items from Anthropologie and Delia's caught my eye. (The shirt is on sale at Anthro., and the bag is from Delia's.)

I would buy this top because it is very sweet and feminine. I also love anything with lace detail. I don't buy purses that often, but I thought this "Mexican blanket" bag was very interesting. I like the colorful design and its many side pockets.

Ballerina Buns!

I am loving these ballerina buns! I'm seeing them a lot in magazines but I have to say, when I tried one on my own yesterday, it didn't turn out quite right. It was right on top of my head and to be perfectly honest, I think I looked quite ridiculous! I think the one below is perfect messy, high up but not too high and with those hairbands added, just the cutest!

Now, while I personally feel having it right on top of my head doesn't work for me, I think Kate Bosworth really pulled it off!

La Roux Meets Harry Potter (trixie)

Here is a link to a funny video where the main actress on take180.com plays the singer La Roux and tries to get a role in the next Harry Potter movie. If you haven't seen the music video for "Bulletproof," I would watch it before this one. Enjoy!
